Uthammar beach
Follow Segelvägen, turn right on Skotvägen. By the last house at the end of that road, look to the water on your left and walk the small trodden path until you get there. You can’t miss it. No fishing allowed there or from the bridge. Further on to the right down by the water, there’s a dog bath where the water ends before the huge rock.
Gunnarsö, First Camp

Nice sand beach only a 10 minute bike ride away from Villa Ängen.

You can also get there by bike via the shortcut from the parking lot down by Uthammars beach on Skotvägen over to Figeholms golf course, then Hägnad and on to Brevikens camping.

Böda Sand, Öland
Perhaps the ultimate bathing resort in all of Sweden, with a sand beach stretching for kilometers complete with beach bar, surfing and lots of activities. The resort is also home to a huge Waterland with all kinds of pools and water rides for the whole family to enjoy.
You can get there by car fairly quick in the summer by taking the Solsund ferrry from Oskarshamn to Byxelkrok (then Böda is a mere 10 minute drive from there). More information on booking the Solsund ferry here. Map here.

Blankaholm Glasscafé
Small cozy café located right by the waterfront in Blankaholm with stunning views over the water.

Café 3 århundraden (& Loppis)
Café 3 århundraden (trans. Café 3 Centuries) is an ancient schoolhouse nowadays housing a small quaint café with homebaked pastries and a pride over that no 2 pieces of porcelain are the same, and a flea market (“loppis”) with assorted antiquities carefully selected by the two connoisseurs who are the proud owners of the place. You walk away from there with impressions from the experience!

Restaurang Tant Grön
Tant Grön is probably something between a café and a restaurant. It is located in an old house on Västervik’s main street and has a very cozy atmosphere, both inside and outside in the backyard. They offer excellent sandwiches and both vegetarian and vegan food as well as excellent coffee and pastries.

Mellingerum Café
A floriculture and a cozy small café out in the countryside offering lunch, “fika” and Napolitanian style pizza. Coffee is good here as well as their homebaked pastries (the “fika”), if you’re not there to lunch or to chow down on a pizza.

Nilssons Café & Bakery
Awarded “Best Confectioner in the World” 2017 by the International Union of Bakers and Confectioners, UIBC, this café offer some serious fika for the connoisseur of pastries! More information in several languages here.

Restaurang Dolce Vita
Dolce Vita is the eatery located closest to Villa Ängen. It can probably be described as being more of a pizza place than a restaurant, although they offer some á la carte too. They make the best pizza in town, if you ask the locals!

Seglarhyllan
Seglarhyllan is a small cozy restaurant located on the pier in the harbor i Oskarshamn. They offer Swedish and European cuisine at descent prices and good, friendly service.

Badholmen Restaurang
Badholmen is originally an old cold water bathhouse built on a small islet in the middle of the harbor in 1859 by the German physician Bernhard Bermann. In 1861 permission for food services was granted. The place has burnt down to the ground on a couple of occasions. In 2010 the current establishment opened up for service. They offer Swedish, Scandinavian and European cuisine. More history here.

Öl & Bröd
Öl & Bröd is a restaurant specialising in different Danish dishes of butter bread. As suggested by their business name, Öl & Bröd has a large assortment of odd sorts of beer. They offer quite a cozy atmosphere both inside and outside in their back yard.

Hansa City, Kalmar
Hansa City in Kalmar is the biggest shopping center in the south eastern part of Sweden. It’s not a shopping mall, it’s a shopping center of shopping malls. That’s how big it is. Over 50 stores and IKEA is only one of them.

M.S. Solsund
Ferry between Oskarshamn and Byxelkrok, Öland. Transfer time 1 hour 55 minutes. The ferry can take cars, caravans and mobile homes. Small cafeteria aboard offering mainly sandwiches, coffee and soda. NOTE: THE FERRY IS OLD AND IS NOT ADAPTED TO PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES!

Blå Jungfrun
The mystical island just outside of Oskarshamn, where legend has it that witches used to fly to have their rituals back in the days.

Glasriket
“Glasriket” can best be translated “The Glass Kingdom.” The name describes the area in Småland where Sweden’s most famous (and many unknown) glassworks and glasshouses can be found: Orrefors, Kosta, Boda, Målerås, the list is endless as you can see here and here.

KartCenter Gocart racing
Indoor gocart racing. Fastest electrified gocarts in all of Småland. Must be 8 years of age or 140 cm tall to participate, under age 16 requires parental permission.

Frisebee Golf
The frisbee golf course in Oskarshamns Stadspark (Central Park) has 9 holes around the park and is free of charge to play. All you need is a frisbee. You have to respect all other visitors in the park and pause your game to allow other visitors to pass by you.

Theme Playground
In the theme playground next to the bird pond in the central park (Stadsparken) in Oskarshamn kids can play in the pirate ship, play with water, go in the ropeway, climb in the pyramid, go in the slides or play in the big car. The ground is covered in a special rubber to protect the kids from scratching or hurting themselves. An oasis for both young and older kids. Free admission.

Tennis
The tennis court in the central park (Stadsparken) in Oskarshamn is available to the public, free of charge. It’s use is intended to be spontaneous, so booking is not possible. It’s first come, first served, figuratively speaking and literally.
The court is fenced in and the paving is asphalt.

Once you have parked your car and you walk into the park, head for the small Greek theatre-style outside concert place. Continue past the concert place up the small hill (not up on the big rock!) and from there you should be able to see the tennis court in the distance in the far corner of the park.

Oskarshamn Golf Club has an 18 hole course in Skorpetorp. Green fee. Restaurant with good food.
